What is a Running Assessment?
A running assessment is a detailed evaluation performed by a physiotherapist trained in movement analysis. The session includes an in-depth conversation about your running history, current goals, and any existing issues. You’ll then perform a series of functional and mobility tests, followed by a video-recorded treadmill run to analyze your gait and technique from multiple angles.
We assess everything from stride length and cadence to foot strike and postural control, looking for patterns that may be contributing to injury or inefficiency. Based on the findings, you’ll receive personalized recommendations — which may include strength exercises, mobility work, running cues, and shoe advice — tailored to improve your performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Who is a Running Assessment for?
Running assessments are designed for anyone who incorporates running into their lifestyle — whether you're just starting out, training for your first 5K, or an experienced runner aiming for a personal best. They're also incredibly beneficial for people experiencing discomfort, recurring injuries, or fatigue while running. If you’re unsure about your form, want to optimize your stride, or are dealing with shin splints, knee pain, hip tightness, or foot issues, a running assessment can offer clarity and solutions.
Why Should I book a Running Assessment?
Even the smallest imbalance or poor habit can lead to inefficient running or chronic pain over time. A running assessment helps uncover those hidden factors and gives you a game plan for smarter, safer movement. Whether your goal is to return to pain-free running, avoid injury, or simply feel more confident in your technique, this session provides the insights you need.
By addressing weaknesses, enhancing biomechanics, and refining your running form, you’ll not only reduce injury risk but also improve speed, endurance, and overall comfort while running. It’s a proactive and empowering way to invest in your body and your performance.
