Physiotherapy focuses on using movement to rehabilitate and strengthen the body in order to improve physical well-being following disease or injury. By uniting exercise, manual hands-on therapy and specially adapted tools, therapists can focus on highly targeted treatments that deliver long lasting results. Physiotherapy can look quite different for each patient, and at our clinic every session is unique. We offer 30 minutes of one-on-one treatment time at each visit, which allows the physiotherapist to design and implement a specific treatment plan tailored to each individual patient’s needs. Some common elements of a physiotherapy treatment plan include exercise programs which improve flexibility and strengthen muscles, soft tissue massage, joint manipulation and specialist treatments including hydrotherapy and electrotherapy. Physiotherapy often also involves the recommendation of exercises that can be done regularly in the patient’s home, to improve the curative strength of the therapy.

Physiotherapy FAQ

Physiotherapy FAQ

What is the difference between physiotherapy and chiropractic therapy?
Both physiotherapy and chiropractic therapy aim to treat musculoskeletal issues, but they differ in approach:
  • Chiropractic therapy: Primarily focuses on spinal adjustments and manual manipulation to correct misalignments in the spine and improve overall function. It is commonly used for back, neck, and joint pain.
  • Physiotherapy: Uses a combination of exercise, manual therapy, and other modalities like heat or cold therapy to improve movement, flexibility, and strength. It focuses on rehabilitation and injury prevention.
What should I wear to a physiotherapy appointment?
We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. For certain treatments, you may need to expose the affected area, so be sure to dress appropriately for that as well.
How long is a physiotherapy appointment?
Physiotherapy appointments typically last 45 minutes for the initial visit. Follow-up appointments are usually 30 minutes, depending on the treatment plan.
Can I request a specific physiotherapist?
Yes, you can request a specific physiotherapist when booking your appointment, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences.
Do I need a referral for physiotherapy?
In most cases, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. However, if you plan to claim your physiotherapy treatments through insurance, check with your insurance provider to confirm their requirements.
