Unlike other manipulation therapies, Chiropractic Therapy focuses on the manipulation of the spine through a series of adjustments and mobilizations. Adjustments are commonly high-velocity motions applied to abnormal vertebra with the goal to improve symmetry and functionality. Chiropractic mobilization refers to a slow manipulation and stretching of muscles and joints with the goal of increasing the range of motion within specific areas of the spine.

Who is it for?

ART® is for sufferers of a wide range of conditions from persistent headaches or back pain to those suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints and tennis elbow. These are a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly (and often permanently) with ART® and they all have an important thing in common; they are often a result of overused muscles.

What is ART®?

Active Release Therapy (ART®) is a state-of-the-art, movement-based therapy that is uniquely designed to combat pain and discomfort by tackling the scar tissue that results from injuries.

Our therapists use ART® to treat problems that involve the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. By applying tension to damaged tissue, while simultaneously lengthening muscles, tendons, and ligaments, the therapist can loosen joints, reduce pain, and restore normal function.

How is it different?

ART® is focused on scar tissue. Muscle injuries often create surrounding scar tissue which limits the amount of oxygen getting to the tissue causing restricted movement, pain and discomfort.

ART® uses specially-designed movements to create tension which breaks down the scar tissue, accessing the underlying cause of pain. Each therapy session combines an examination and treatment to ensure that the therapy is targeted at the soft tissue that has been injured.
